2015: The Year Of The Baby

I don't know about you but, in my life it seems like 2015 is going to be the year of the baby or more correctly the year of pregnancy.

More friends than I can say (because a lot of them haven't even announced it yet) are expecting their first child.

Exciting times for them, and for me! I love me some babies and I am very excited to become a Fairy Godmother and spoil these babies rotten.

Until they come it's their Mama's I get to spoil, in the form of little knitted gifts and vitamin e belly cream.

Of the fun I am going to have when the little ones are brought into the world.

A 30th Birthday Blanket

When I was crocheting my Granny Stripe Blanket last year my friend Ash absolutely fell in love.

I mean--- dropping hints that she'd like it.

Threatening to steal it when it was finished--- kind of love.

So with her 30th Birthday rolling around in January, I decided to make her one of her own.

It was a little last minute, seeing as how I started it Mid November

But, hey it is me were talking about!

The pattern and fiber is the same as my original Granny Strip Blanket, I just switched up the colour sequence and made the boarder a darker colour pattern.

Overall I was really happy with the way the blanket turned out and I know she was too.

Meet Penny Lane

I am very excited to introduce the newest member of my family, Penny Lane.

She is 9 weeks old as of yesterday and is a Tricolour Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

We had to drive almost three hours to get her and was she ever a trooper on the way home.

This is my first dog and I could not be more happy with her, she is such a sweetheart.

Now wish me luck on training lol!

WIP Wednesday: Rose City Rollers Socks

I thought I'd start a new segment called WIP Wednesdays.
I'm going to post (or at least try to!) every Wednesday with a current WIP (Work in Progress).

I've been working on the Rose City Rollers Socks by Mara Catherine Bryner. It's a free pattern on Ravelry,
and is honestly a really simple and easy to follow sock pattern. It would be great for beginners or knitters who are new to sock knitting.

I decided to knit them not only because they looked amazing and, I had been seeing such love for them on Instagram lately. But, also because I thought they would be a great Summer Sock, with the rolled down cuff they would be perfect for chilly nights and air conditioned basement studios!

The first sock took me about a week to knit and I have cast on the second sock already. That's my iPad in the background with Dance Mom's on, I've had a guilt addiction to it lately.

Fiber Content: 75% Superwash Merino wool, 15% Nylon, 10% Tencel
Colour Way: Across the Universe
Needles: Recommended size DPN
All other Modification information on my project page on Ravelry

What is your Summer Project? Let me know in the comment section below.

Hydrangea Cupcakes

A dear friend of mine is getting married at the end of the summer and last weekend was her shower.

I offered to make the cupcakes for the event and had been planning for months what to make.

I knew she loved Hydrangea's (to my knowledge they are her favourite flower) and I wanted to try and make the cupcakes look like them.

The cupcakes themselves are my favourite cupcakes to make they are the Triple-Citrus Cupcakes by Martha Stewart. I use just a small amount of the lime glaze recommended in the recipe on each cupcake and then topped with her Swiss Meringue Buttercream.

I used a Wilton 2D tip to create each flower and a duel colour frosting technique.

Let me know if you are interested in seeing how they are made in the comment section and I'll make a tutorial.

It Finally Feels Like Summer

Summer is here!

After been out of commission last summer with my back injury, I'm hoping to soak up as much Summer Fun as I can this year.

One of my favouite parts about summer is the fresh cut flowers at my finger tips.

Caught this as I was leaving for work.
I love bee's so much and try to plant a lot of flowers to attract them.

This is mom making a friend at the our local road side stand.

A lovely reminder that I live in the county.
Not that I really needed one!

Doing a little hand sewing and working on a hexagon quilt.
