Italiano Wave and Why I Love Custom Orders

I tend to be one of those people who get set into limited color ways.

I get obsessed with a certain color and then make, wear and exhaust all the available color options.

That is why I love custom orders so much!

They enable me to step out of the current color trench, I've dug myself into and try something different.

I'm able to experiment and try something that I may never have even dream of doing but, turns out to be something amazing.

For this week's custom order, I had a request from the lovely Amanda to create a wave blanket in the colors of the Italian flag.

After much deliberation we decided to not use the regular color repeats of the past wave blankets.

I was afraid it would look like a Christmas blanket, with the red and green beside each other.

I think it was a good decision because, the traditional flag layout with the wave pattern is stunning --- in my opinion of course, but I'm slightly bias.

Charlotte Wave Blanket

Named after the most girly character on sex and the city, the Charlotte Wave is by far the most feminine blanket I have made to date.

And I love it!

I used the lovely wave crochet pattern

A mid tone pink as well as a light pink, and a cream to balance them off,

I used my favorite yarn blend of super soft wool and acrylic, perfect for sensitive skin.

Midnight Waves Blanket

I have been working with a very special client for two custom baby blankets.
The first a neutral color pallet and the second for a baby boy.

This week I created the neutral blanket and love the way it turned out.

The color pallet goes from a vibrant turquoise all the way to a midnight grey.

I am loving making these wave blankets, they are simple yet so effective.

What do you think, does it make you want to take a Midnight sail?
